Transactional Analysis (AT) is a psychological theory and therapeutic method developed by Eric Berne in the 1950s. Its main aim is to understand the mechanisms of human communication and to improve interpersonal relationships. AT is used in psychotherapy as well as in coaching, education and also in organisational management.
What is transactional analysis?
Transactional analysis is based on the assumption that each person has three states of Self: Parent, Adult and Child. These three components shape the way people interact with others, and knowing them helps to identify and improve communication patterns. In practice, this means that applying the principles of transactional analysis can lead to a better understanding of self and others and more effective communication.
