Main conclusions
- The Gallup Test is an online questionnaire consisting of 177 statements assessed in 20 seconds that identifies your dominant talents from among 34 categories developed by the Gallup Institute.
- CliftonStrengths 34 gives a full profile of all your talents, while the Top 5 version shows only the strongest - the choice depends on the depth of work you plan to do with your strengths.
- Gallup talent only becomes a strength when a natural aptitude is combined with knowledge and regular practice - just knowing the results of a report is not enough.
- The Gallup Institute makes the test available in Polish, and you can certify yourself as a CliftonStrengths coach through the official certification programme on the Gallup Institute website.
- The greatest value of the Gallup Talent Test comes when the whole team knows their results and can read them in the context of shared roles and tasks.
What is the Gallup test?
The Gallup Test is a standardised questionnaire developed by the Gallup Institute that measures a person's natural czł aptitude in 34 areas called Gallup talents. The result of the test is a personalised report indicating which of the 34 talents dominate your profile.
The tool's full name is CliftonStrengths 34 - after its creator, Donald O. Clifton, a psychologist who developed the concept of strengths in the 1990s. Clifton's premise was that rather than improving weaknesses, it was better to invest in developing what was already working.
The Gallup Talent Test is available in Polish on the Gallup Institute website. The questionnaire takes approximately 35-45 minutes to complete. Each of the 177 statements requires a response within 20 seconds - this time limit is intentional, as it forces spontaneous rather than thoughtful responses.

When is it worth taking a Gallup test?
The Gallup test is worth taking when you feel you are working a lot but the results are not commensurate with the effort you are putting in - the report often indicates that energy is going into areas that are not your strongest talents. A change of role, promotion to a leadership position or the start of a new team project is also a good time, where knowing your dominant talents allows you to find your way around new tasks more quickly.
34 talents - how is the Clifton model structured?
CliftonStrengths 34 groups talent into four domains:
- Making - e.g. Achieving, Responsibility, Ordering
- Influencing - e.g. Activator, Command, Communication
- Relationship building - e.g. Empathy, Harmony, Individualisation
- Strategic thinking - e.g. Analytical, Futuristic thinking, Learning
Every c1TP1People has all 34 talents - the question is which ones are the strongest. The Gallup test indicates your dominant talents, i.e. those talents that work in you almost automatically and effortlessly.
Top 5 talent or full profile of CliftonStrengths 34?
The Gallup Institute offers two versions of the report.
| Version | What it contains | Indicative price |
| Top 5 (CliftonStrengths Top 5) | Top five talent report | approx. USD 25 |
| CliftonStrengths 34 | Full profile of all 34 talents with ranking | approx. USD 50 |
| Version with access code | Code included with selected Gallup books | approx. USD 15-30 |
The Top5 is an entry point - knowing your five dominant talents is enough to understand your core operating style. A full profile comes in handy if you want to know not only your strengths, but also the talents at the bottom of the rankings, which can generate tensions in teamwork.
At the Meeting Group, we recommend the CliftonStrengths 34 version for leaders and HR professionals because it gives a fuller picture for coaching and training work.
What does it look like to complete the Gallup test online?
You gain access to the questionnaire by purchasing a code from the Gallup Institute website or through a code included in selected publications.
Step-by-step process:
- Go to the Gallup Institute website (gallup.com) and create an account.
- Enter your access code.
- Select language - the test is available in Polish.
- Complete a questionnaire of 177 statements. You rate each statement on a scale with 20 seconds to do so.
- Once completed, download a PDF report of your talents.
Important: it is not possible to go back to a previous question. Every answer is final. This is a deliberate design - it limits rationalisation and forces an instinctive response.
What do you find in the Gallup test results?
The CliftonStrengths report provides a description of each of your dominant talents along with practical tips. This is not a general characterisation - the Gallup Institute has personalised the descriptions to relate specifically to the order of your talents.
The report answers the questions:
- How does a given predisposition manifest itself in your daily activities?
- How do you develop each of Gallup's talents into a strength?
- How can your strongest talents influence your relationships with others?
Identifying dominant talents is only the beginning. Gallup talent only becomes a strength when you combine it with knowledge and practice. Gallup estimates that employees who use their strengths every day are six times more engaged at work (source: Gallup State of the Global Workplace, 2023).
Expert advice from the Group Meeting
„At the Encounter Group we have been working with the Gallup test for years and we see one recurring pattern: people are surprised that their talents are something they do effortlessly. That's why they often underestimate them - if something comes easily, we assume that others have it too. Meanwhile, this is your resource. The best way to work with a Gallup report is not to read it alone, but to discuss it with someone who knows the context of your work and can point out where your Gallup talents strengthen the team and where they can generate tension."
How do you certify with CliftonStrengths?
The Gallup Institute offers a certification programme for coaches and trainers to become certified as a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach. Certification includes online training, an exam and access to materials for working with clients.
A Gallup certified coach can conduct one-to-one and workshop sessions using CliftonStrengths 34 reports. In Poland, the number of certified professionals is growing - the tool is entering the mainstream of HR and coaching.
Gallup test and self-knowledge in the context of teamwork
The Gallup talent test does not work in a vacuum. It provides the greatest value when the whole team knows their results and can read them in the context of working together.
Example: if the team is dominated by talents from the „Strategic Thinking" domain, but lacks talents from the „Execution" domain, the team will plan brilliantly, but may have struggled to finalise projects. Knowing your talents and those of your colleagues allows you to consciously distribute roles.
At the Meeting Group, we run workshops where teams discuss their CliftonStrengths reports together. This is one of the quickest ways to get people talking about their strengths rather than focusing on what they lack.
How do you develop your talents? Our training courses
Knowing your strongest talents is a starting point. Working with them requires context, conversation and practice.
At the Encounter Group, we run programmes that help you translate your values into real change at work:
Transactional Analysis - Training for Leaders - A programme for leaders who want to understand the dynamics of team relationships. Combine your knowledge with Transactional Analysis to develop people more effectively and have difficult conversations.

HR Master product - 6th Edition - A comprehensive programme for HR professionals. Includes work with diagnostic tools, in recruitment, onboarding and development planning processes.
Who is the Gallup test for?
The Gallup test works best for people who:
- want to consciously plan their career path and know in which roles they will feel satisfaction,
- are leaders and want to better understand their team's predispositions,
- work as trainers, coaches or HR professionals and are looking for a tool to work with people development,
- are undergoing a career change and need a reference point when choosing a new direction.
Identifying your strengths makes sense at any point in your career - whether you are starting out or 20 years into your career.
What the Gallup test doesn't do
The Gallup test does not measure intelligence, personality or professional competence. It will not tell you if you are suitable for a position.
CliftonStrengths 34 describes natural predisposition - what you do well without effort. A predisposition is a potential, not a guarantee of success. Gallup's talent needs to be developed to become a strength.
